November 1. Gabriel Leviticus Black, a boy that held so much promise, was born that day. His mother? A beautiful woman by the name of Amelia Anne Marra. The Marra family had gained some considerable prestige within Aldennia. Amelia's father, Jacob, had built the name of the Marra from the ground up alone. As such, Jacob fully expect his daughter to marry for political reasons. Of course, fate had other ideas. Then, his father? Gabriel's father was a man by the name of Michael Albert Black. He was a resident mage of the the aristocracy within Aldennia. He regularly dealt with the lords and those of court. Michael was a powerful magician, but he was more a farmer than anything else. While at a ball, he and Amelia met. After a number of other meetings, some in secret and some not, Michael and Amelia fell in love and Amelia became pregnant. With everything progressing far two rapidly for them to handle, Michael decided that he would flee Aldennia. Amelia would be punished, of course, by Michael's punishment would be far worse if anything was found out. When Jacob saw that his daughter was pregnant he was furious and called for a ransom on the head of Michael Albert Black. Luckily, Michael was never found and Amelia had the child. Originally Amelia had wanted to name him under the Marra name and give him a chance within the aristocracy, but her father would have none of it for the bastard child. From this, the boy became Gabriel Leviticus Black or, as some called him, Black the Bastard.
